Mortimer Bistro (6 Victoria Rd, Mortimer Common, Reading RG7 3SE) is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. Questions: mortimerbistro@outlook.com.
What we collect and why
- Your name, email, phone number and (for delivery) address — to prepare, deliver and update you about your order.
- Table bookings: your name, email, phone number, party size and any note — to hold your table and contact you about it.
- Your order history — for our records, refunds and accounting (legal obligation).
- Marketing emails — only if you tick the box at checkout (consent). You can unsubscribe at any time.
Allergies and notes
Notes you add to an order, a dish or a booking may include allergy or dietary information, which can be health information. We use it only to prepare your food safely and to look after you when you visit: it is shown to our kitchen and front-of-house staff, and nobody else. We don’t use it for marketing. Notes are kept with the order or booking they belong to, for as long as we keep that record (see below). A basket you haven’t ordered is kept only in your own browser and forgotten after a week.
Payments
Card payments are handled by Teya on their secure payment page. We never see or store your full card details.
Who processes it for us
Only the providers we need to run the service, each under contract and UK GDPR safeguards. We never sell your data.
- Teya — card payments.
- Resend — sends your order and booking emails.
- Hetzner — hosts this website and its database, in the EU.
- Sentry — error tracking, in the EU, so we can fix problems with the site. We don’t send it your name, contact details, address or notes.
How long we keep it
Order records are kept for six years for tax purposes. Marketing consent is kept until you withdraw it.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to marketing by emailing mortimerbistro@outlook.com. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Cookies
We only use what’s strictly necessary: your basket is stored in your browser, and staff sign-in uses a secure cookie. No advertising or tracking cookies.
